Tents built for open ground
Sorrento is the tent country closest to home — about 10 road miles up SR-46 from the shop — and the orders show it. Rural acreage, equestrian properties, barn venues and the Red Tail community near Mount Plymouth have the open ground for our largest high peak tents with every guy line fully extended, which is why more 40×40 and 40×60 weddings go up here than anywhere except Longwood. Sorrento gets the flat $59 delivery and the shortest windows of any city outside Apopka.
All seven sizes we rent — 10×10 through 40×80 — are aluminum-frame high peak tents with no center pole. Prices for each are on this page, live from the catalog; setup and breakdown are part of the tent price.
Wind, sand and long drives
Open fields funnel wind. On Sorrento acreage the crew stakes deep in the sandy soil, adds ratchet lines to anything 20×40 and larger as standard, and orients the tent so the open field is not driving the afternoon breeze straight through it. Long unpaved drives are common — tell us at booking and the right truck comes, with the approach planned so nobody is backing a trailer down a sand track before dawn. Equestrian properties: tell us where the fences and water lines are and we keep stakes and tires off them.
Permits
Sorrento is unincorporated Lake County. Tents up to 900 square feet are exempt from the Florida Fire Prevention Code, which covers a 20×40 (800 sq ft). Tents over 900 square feet or with any side 30 feet or longer need a Lake County permit and fire-protection review — we prepare the application and the flame-resistance certificate and schedule the setup after it issues. Barn venues that host the public may have their own county Special Event permit; ask the venue and we match whatever window they are given.
Sizing an acreage wedding
- 80 guests — 20×40 with ten 60-inch rounds, a dance floor and lighting; no fire review.
- 120–160 guests — 40×40 with fifteen to twenty rounds and a 16×16 or 20×20 floor; Lake County review, two weeks out.
- 200–240 guests — 40×60, with the review and a longer setup window.
A 40×40 needs roughly 46×46 of flat ground once stakes and guy lines are counted; a 40×60 about 46×66. Sorrento properties usually have it. Tent lighting matters here — the nearest streetlight is a long way off — and we stock kits sized to the 20×20, 20×40 and 40×40.
