The Winter Park tent order
More than anywhere else we go, Winter Park asks for the wedding tent. Lakefront homes on Lake Virginia, Lake Osceola, Lake Maitland and Lake Mizell and the historic streets off Interlachen Avenue host backyard weddings, engagement parties and milestone birthdays, and the request is usually a 20×40 high peak tent — 800 square feet, 80 seated at ten 60-inch rounds — dressed with tent lighting, floor-length linens and a dark walnut dance floor. It is the one city where the 40×40 gets asked for as often as the 20×20.
All seven sizes we rent are aluminum-frame high peak tents — no center pole, a clean peaked roofline that photographs well and sheds a summer storm — and the crew installs every one of them. Prices for all seven are on this page, live from the catalog.
Terraces, docks and irrigated lawns
Winter Park properties are the reason we carry weighted footings on every truck. Brick and paver terraces, travertine pool decks and boat-dock lawns cannot take a stake, so on hardscape the tent is anchored with weights and nothing is drilled or driven. On turf we put drop cloths under every frame leg and keep stakes clear of irrigation heads — these are the best-kept lawns in Central Florida and we treat them that way. Any tent facing open water gets extra ratchet lines; the afternoon breeze across the Chain of Lakes builds by three o’clock and a tent that was fine at ten is working hard by four.
Gated communities off Via Tuscany and the Isle of Sicily area are routine. Put the gate code or the guardhouse instructions in your order notes.
Permits in Winter Park
A 20×40 (800 sq ft) sits under Florida’s 900-square-foot exemption from the Fire Prevention Code, so a typical backyard wedding tent needs no fire review. The 40×40 and larger — or any tent where a caterer will be cooking underneath — go through the City of Winter Park’s tent permit, which the Building Department issues for the Fire Department under NFPA 1 Chapter 25; the city’s form specifically prohibits butane-fueled appliances under a tent. We prepare the form and the flame-resistance documentation and build the review time into your delivery date. Winter Park addresses outside the city limits fall under Orange County instead, where tents over 901 square feet get a Fire Marshal review through Fast Track.
